Volunteer Spotlight: Brianna Borkenhagen Giving Support Through Reach Counseling

When someone reaches out for help, having a compassionate and informed person available can make an important difference. Fortifi employee Brianna Borkenhagen helps provide that support by volunteering with Reach Counseling.
Reach Counseling is a local sexual assault service provider that offers prevention education, victim advocacy, counseling, outreach, and treatment services. Its Volunteer Advocates help extend the organization’s crisis response beyond regular office hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Volunteer Advocates are trained to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, information, and resources to survivors of sexual abuse and assault. Depending on the situation, that support may happen over the phone or in person at a local hospital. Advocates may also work alongside medical and legal professionals as survivors navigate unfamiliar and difficult processes.
By serving in this role, Brianna is giving her time to help ensure that survivors have access to compassionate support when they need it. Her volunteer work reflects the kind of quiet, dependable community service that can have a meaningful impact far beyond a single shift.
Reach’s work also includes prevention education in schools and the broader community. The organization reports that its volunteer-supported prevention program is active in 71 Winnebago County schools, with age-appropriate education designed to build awareness, strengthen protective behaviors, and help prevent abuse.
Reach envisions a socially just community that prioritizes and empowers healing for everyone affected by sexual violence. Fortifi is proud to recognize Brianna for contributing her time to that mission and for supporting an organization working to create safer, stronger communities throughout the Fox Valley.
We are grateful for Bre’s commitment, leadership, and passion for supporting the mission of Reach Counseling.
