Fortifi Volunteers Dig In for United Way’s Day of Caring

13 Fortifi team members joined Oshkosh Area United Way’s 29th Annual Day of Caring. Their project brought them to the EAA grounds, where they spent the morning planting trees, spreading mulch, uprooting and relocating trees for replanting, and helping care for a place enjoyed by people throughout our community.
EAA describes its facilities and grounds as covering more than 1,600 acres. That is a lot of space to care for, and our team showed up ready to help. By the end of the morning, they had planted eight more trees than initially expected.
The day was about more than the work itself. Digging, lifting, hauling and working side by side gave team members a chance to support one another, build relationships and put a can-do attitude into action. There was plenty to accomplish, but there was plenty of fun along the way, too.
Fortifi’s involvement in Day of Caring has roots of its own. Kristen Hermanson first got Brianna Borkenhagen involved in 2022, and participation has grown substantially each year. More team members continue to step forward, with 13 Fortifi employees volunteering their time this year.
Our team was part of a much larger community effort. Oshkosh Area United Way reports that 215 volunteers completed more than 46 projects supporting 22 local nonprofits and organizations during the 2026 Day of Caring.
Thank you to every Fortifi team member who got their hands dirty and gave their time to help EAA care for its grounds. This is what growing our community looks like: showing up, working together and leaving something stronger behind.
