The Story of R2H Flavor Technology

We don’t want to be the biggest. We want to be the best. We want to be able to share our products and help people. We’re Jeff and Julie Rozum. We are the owners of R2H Flavor Technology.

We are a smoke manufacturing company here in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. We make smoke flavorings for the food industry. Anything that is smoked in the grocery store probably has a similar product on it. Even worldwide. It’s in a lot of products.

You can’t be successful unless you look at is as a team, because each person is valuable, and they’re important. And the job that they do is necessary to make sure that you have continued growth as a company. We really wanted to have that sort of family atmosphere.

We spent the first six months trying to find someone to fund us. We went through several people until we found the right people.

We heard a lot of nos, and then we walked into Fortifi and it was different. It had a different feel. They listened and they paid attention. I think they could see our vision. You have an idea that you know you can do something with. It’s worth the effort.

Thinking of starting your own business? Do it. Just do it. Don’t give up. Persistence pays off. We get to make our own decisions. And we get to decide, We get to decide our destiny. We get to decide what we’re going to do and what the direction of the company is going to be. We’re not along for the ride, we’re driving. We’re making a product in Wisconsin that’s being sold to other Wisconsin companies. We do exports.

So all of that money is coming back into Wisconsin. And it’s going to stay in Wisconsin. It makes us proud. I mean, it really does. We want to be able to give people jobs.
