Fortifi Bank Announces Greg Lundberg as Chairman During 150th Anniversary Year

Fortifi Bank announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Lundberg has been unanimously approved to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for First Berlin Bancorp, Inc., succeeding longtime Chairman Russ Kuehn following 25 years of distinguished board leadership. Kuehn will continue to serve as a director of the bank and its holding company.

The transition comes during Fortifi Bank’s 150th anniversary year, marking a meaningful passing of the baton for one of Wisconsin’s longstanding community banks.

Founded in 1876 in Berlin, Wisconsin, Fortifi Bank has grown from its early roots serving local families, farmers, and businesses into a modern community financial institution with nine locations across Wisconsin. While banking has changed dramatically over the past century and a half, Fortifi’s mission has remained steady: helping Wisconsin people, businesses, and communities grow.

“Fortifi Bank has always been shaped by people who believed in the power of community banking,” said Greg Lundberg, President/CEO and Chairman of Fortifi Bank. “Russ’s leadership helped guide this organization through years of growth, change, and opportunity. It is an honor to continue building on that foundation as we carry Fortifi’s mission into the next chapter.”

Lundberg brings more than 30 years of banking experience to the Chairman role and has become a respected leader across Wisconsin’s banking industry. He joined Fortifi Bank in 2010, serving in leadership roles including Executive Vice President, Chief Lending Officer, board member, and President/CEO. In 2022, he was named Wisconsin Bankers Association Banker of the Year in recognition of his values-driven leadership, industry involvement, and community service. He has also served on the Wisconsin Bankers Association Board of Directors and was selected as Vice Chair for the 2025–26 term, reflecting his continued influence in supporting and advocating for community banking across the state.

Kuehn’s leadership has played a significant role in Fortifi’s growth and continued local focus. During his decades of service, he helped guide the bank through an evolving financial landscape while keeping the organization rooted in relationship banking, local decision-making, and community commitment.

“Fortifi has always been more than a bank,” said Russ Kuehn. “It has been a group of people committed to doing right by their clients, their coworkers, and their communities. I am proud of what we have built together, and I have great confidence in Greg’s leadership as Fortifi continues to grow.”

The leadership transition also comes at a time when community banks continue to play an important role in Wisconsin’s economy. As the financial industry becomes more digital and more consolidated, Fortifi Bank remains committed to local service, local decisions, and long-term community investment.

“Community banking still matters,” Lundberg said. “Technology will keep changing the way people bank, but trust, relationships, and local commitment will always matter. That is what Fortifi has stood for since 1876, and that is what will guide us forward.”

Fortifi Bank will continue celebrating its 150th anniversary throughout 2026 with special promotions, community events, and stories highlighting the people and communities that have shaped the bank’s history
